Hey there! I’m Kara, a 28-year-old former Travel Nurse who grew up in Michigan and now travels full-time while working as a Remote Nurse. After 5 years as a bedside nurse, I began facing a lopsided work-life balance which then left me feeling burnt out and mentally drained. There came a time last year when I knew I needed to make a change, but the guilt I felt at the thought of leaving the bedside kept me from pursuing those ideas. As I’m sure most of you know, nurses are SEVERELY understaffed across the board, so how can I leave a job that so desperately needs me? That’s the thing, it’s a job, and a job I can always go back to. And I knew that by continuing down this same path it would not lead me to be the person I knew I was capable of.

After months of applying to endless remote job postings with feelings of disappoint after minimal success, I had Finally, Somehow secured a Fully-Remote Nursing position. Working remotely has allowed me to embrace the freedom of full-time travel while also balancing my passion for the great outdoors and photography. From discovering hidden gems off the beaten path to going on multi-night backpacking treks to finding unique and reasonably priced accommodations that is what brings me joy after my work day! For healthcare workers in particular, seeking a fulfilling life outside of the hospital is absolutely necessary. As you must find ways to recharge your battery to be able to provide the emotional and physical support for the patients who need it the most.
With this platform I hope to share insight to help other 9-5ers or 12-hour shifters realize that they CAN build a more freedom based lifestyle that will fill your cup up Every. Single. Day.
